NEP-Curriculum Design @ Banyan Tree School

Educational systems, throughout history have already undergone many changes. The society is subjected to change to meet the demands of globalized society therefore it is imperative to replace the traditional systems of education with the modern ways of teaching.

The modern era has ushered in with a series of responsibilities to shape future representatives with a spark to take the world to newstride and thrive towards more modernized sensibilities thus it becomes all the more challenging as the students need to be trained for the jobs which have not been created at the moment. The nuances in the system of education need to be discussed for developing the new model of human resource development. This is only possible if the gaps in the current knowledge and research are delineated and trigger the capacity to develop the team -taught course and to commit themselves to collaborative student-centred pedagogy.

With the aim to incorporate this pedagogy the Curriculum Design @ Banyan Tree School is based on problem solving, coding and how to address future challenges. Technology is the medium of education here and the focus is on the effective use and manipulation of computers rather than on the act of writing as we know it today.

Every subject in school incorporates computer application as the medium to learn it and so the focus in school is on learning with ease of understanding.

Classes with students are no longer grouped on the basis of their age. Classes are according to students own abilities.

Teacher-oriented classes where students receive lectures from teachers are out and student-centered learning is in.

Hands-on assignments and projects replace exams. Exams are obsolete and the focus is on accomplishing projects, making presentations and other methods to demonstrate the student’s ability to apply the concepts learned in a practical manner.
Curricular content is reduced to enhance essential learning, critical thinking and greater focus is on experiential learning.
Update skills of teachers. An important part of the teacher’s job here is developing skills, particularly technical since education is primarily imparted through various integrated technological resources. Teachers are trained regularly to keep up with subject-related apps.
Classrooms is no longer the exclusive realms for teaching. With the extensive use of computer software for learning almost all subjects, online classes with teachers and groups of students are the norm. Physical classrooms have become obsolete.
Education without boundaries. Students across countries can easily take lessons from teachers around the world through the internet.
There is no stiff separation between arts and sciences, between curricular and extra-curricular activities, between vocational and academic streams. Students have been able to select subjects of their liking across streams.
Curriculum nourished by life-skills, art integrated projects, subject integration and a plethora of opportunities.
Emphasis is given on socially and economically disadvantaged groups, which includes gender, socio-cultural, and geographical identities and disabilities. Children with disabilities are able to attend regular school from the foundational stage to higher education, with support of educators with cross-disability training and technology-based tools tailored to suit their needs.
Diverse offering of Clubs, physical health and wellness activities.
