At Banyan Tree School, we encourage love for reading, both for the sheer joy of it and because it is the most useful technological tool in the student’s range of skills. Our library not only has a vast range of distinct books but also offers digital media content, online database, films and an epic e-library. Our library has a separate corner for our young Researchers where they use e-resources and prepare their project work.
To nourish the intellect, we have books and magazines on every imaginable topic. Every student is encouraged to read and discuss what he or she likes. Each learner is encouraged to make books his/her best friend and an escape to the world of fantasy. Children enjoy the library and the plethora of information it gives.
It houses abundant informative resources, ample reading material and digital data with easy access to internet. It is a welcoming, calm, serene, vibrant and supportive space designed to encourage curiosity, exploration and instill a deep love for learning in all its users. The school library offers learning material for Students, Educators and Non-teaching staff. The library is well stocked with a wide range of world’s latest fiction, poetry, prose, philosophical books, magazines, journals, comics, newspapers, text-books, audio and video cassettes, CDs, DVDs and other visual aids. A plethora of activities like Book Fair, Puppet Show, Story-telling, Quiz Book Discussion, Book Review Writing, Book Mark making, Book Cover making, reading of editorial page of Newspaper, Dictionary search game and Book Reading; and many more are being done on a regular basis. The school library fosters life-long learning abilities and inclination for reading amongst the students. It also provides teachers with instructional material and professional resources to aid and enhance their skills in pedagogy.
Information is the heartbeat of meaningful learning in schools. Exponential growth, availability and access to information, particularly electronic information on Internet does not imply learning. At Banyan Tree School library, we strive to create a learning environment that empowers students to connect with, engage with and utilize this information in meaningful and purposeful ways. Fundamental to this learning environment is the development of a school wide information service where learners have opportunities to access multiple sources and forms of information and the appropriate technologies to do so. We have developed strong library and information services which are essential to a learning program that values the cognitive, cultural, social, affective, technological and spiritual development of students in a global, multicultural and uncertain world. The Librarian and the library staff is actively engaged in the development of curriculum across all learning areas to ensure the integration of information skills, and a carefully planned library program that is implemented collectively and collaboratively.
The glorious ambience of the library is the jewel in the Banyan Tree School crown because of its excellent and highly endorsed collection of books, journals, reference material and academic resources. All these spaces are fitted with safe and conducive interiors and an aesthetic and environment friendly ambience.
