On 2nd and 3rd May, 2024, students of grade 5-8 and faculty members of Banyan Tree School embarked on a fascinating journey into the world of plants and biodiversity by visiting the Botanical Garden, New Chandigarh. The impetus of this visit was to provide students with hands-on experience, expand their botanical knowledge and foster an understanding of the importance of conserving plant diversity.

 The visit began with a guided tour led by experienced botanists and garden staff. They provided insightful information about the history of the botanical garden, its mission, and the diverse plant collections it houses. Students were introduced to various sections of the garden, each representing different biomes and ecosystems.

 The botanical garden showcased an impressive array of plant species from around the world, including rare and endangered ones also. Students got the opportunity to meet Maj. Gen. C.S. Bewli who has authored three books and is the President of the Bonsai Culture Society in Chandigarh. The diversity of plant forms, textures, and colours fascinated and intrigued the students.

The garden offered not only educational value but also aesthetic beauty. Students were captivated by the meticulously designed landscapes, themed gardens, and artistic plant arrangements. These displays showcased how plants can be harmoniously integrated into various settings and also how it impacts the overall surroundings of a place which leads to mental and physical well-being of a person. The visit proved to be an enriching experience for the students and the faculty of the school.

Students expressed their gratitude towards the school Director and the Principal for granting them this enriching opportunity that helped them gain experiential knowledge.
