Baisakhi, the lively and culturally rich festival deeply ingrained in Northern India’s traditions, took centre stage at Banyan Tree School, Chandigarh, on April 12, 2024, igniting spirits with fervour and enthusiasm. The school campus came alive as the vibrant hues of Punjabi attire adorned our Kindergarten children, who enthusiastically participated in the Baisakhi celebrations. Adding to the authenticity, yellow cuisines graced their meals, providing a sensory experience that immersed them in the rich cultural tapestry of Punjab. A dedicated morning assembly served as a platform to enlighten our students about the significance of Baisakhi.
The students of Middle Wing were captivated by a documentary screening, shedding light on the historical importance of Baisakhi and the story of ‘Panj Pyaare,’ offering them a profound understanding of the festival’s heritage. This immersive experience not only honed their research and presentation skills but also encouraged them to think critically about the festival and its relevance in today’s world. Dr. Jayeta Auddy, our esteemed School Director, and Ms. Garima S. Bhardwaj, our dedicated School Principal, commended the students for their exemplary engagement, participation, and perhaps their efforts in learning about and respecting the cultural significance of the festival. The motive behind our celebrations was clear: to instill in our students the values of inclusivity and cultural appreciation, preparing them to thrive in an interconnected world.
