United Nations Human Rights Council

Slavery was the one of the first forms of human rights violations, thriving up to the 19th century. In the 20th century the World Wars caused gross human rights abuse and a tremendous loss of lives, this was followed by the United Nations’ Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Sixty nine years since the declaration Human rights violations seemed to have moved from one field to another, but have not ended.

Ethnic cleansing, racism, homophobia, sexism and terrorism still prevail and thrive due to being given divided attention by governments and citizens, some of these have been etched in the thought process of generations making them very hard to curb.

AGENDA: United Nations Human Rights Council – Promoting and protecting the rights of of people under detention and imprisonment with special emphasis on POWs.
